Introducing the New Trail and Climb Area at DBS : A Playground for Growth and Imagination

We are thrilled to unveil a brand-new play area at DBS, specially designed for children aged five and above. This innovative space is divided into two distinct zones—the Trail Zone and the Climb Zone—each offering unique experiences that contribute to the holistic development of our students.

Trail Zone: Balancing Fun and Skill Development

The Trail Zone, also known as the Balance Zone, features four key pieces of equipment: Roll & Rock, ZigZag Rope, Stepping Rock, and Davis. These engaging activities are set on a 20mm shock pad for safety, providing a cushioned surface that minimises the risk of injury. The equipment in this area is specifically designed to enhance transverse and balance skills, encouraging children to stretch and move in ways that are both enjoyable and beneficial to their physical development. Unlike typical playground activities that focus on jumping or bouncing, the Trail Zone emphasises horizontal stretching, helping to build flexibility and coordination.

Climb Zone: Unleashing Creativity with the Amazon Jungle Climber

The Climb Zone features the Amazon Jungle Climber, a versatile piece of equipment that promotes free play. Unlike structured playground activities, there is no set way to navigate this climber. This freedom encourages students to use their imagination, fostering creativity as they explore different ways to interact with the equipment. This kind of play is crucial not only for emotional and intellectual growth but also for enhancing executive functions like risk management. Children learn to assess their surroundings and make decisions about how to engage with the equipment, a critical skill for their overall development.
